Renaissance

We've all heard of the Renaissance, an historic period in Italy. But the word 'renaissance' literally means 're-birth' or renewal. We believe a spiritual journey should create positive change both within us and within our world - a sort of re-birth so to speak.

Renaissance is our community's weekly gathering on Monday nights at UVM. Each week we:

1. Eat. That's right - free food. We believe good food is a very spiritual experience.

2. Think. We have group discussions, multi-angled presentations, and a chance to create beauty of all sorts. It looks a little different from week to week, but we hope it's stimulating and thought-provoking.

3. Connect. We might facilitate times of silent and verbal prayer. Singing could happen. But no matter what, you'll be free to participate - or not participate - as much as you want.

Serving Globally

Each year Chi Alpha offers opportunities to impact lives and communities around the world. We have done service trips to developing nations, outreaches to university campuses in Europe, and even worked at an inner-city shelter in San Francisco.

This March we're heading to the West Coast to work with A Rocha, an international conservation and justice organization. Check out the video link below to find out more about A Rocha.

Residence Hall Presentations

We all have questions. Some are pretty routine:
"How do I maintain a healthy lifestyle while eating cafeteria food?"
"What do I do if my roommate likes to hang out naked in our room?" (Get some plastic for your furniture!)

Other questions go a bit deeper:
"What do different religions believe about the afterlife?"
"I'm a biology major. Can I believe in evolution and God?" (You might be surprised by the answer.)

Genuine spirituality should be thoughtful with the tough questions... and the practical ones. If you bring your roommate and your questions, we'll bring the pizza.

Retreats

Sometimes we just need to get away. Breaking out of the routine can provide us with the needed space to think clearly and to reconnect with God. Each semester Chi Alpha offers a weekend retreat.

Fall '08

Join college students from around New England at our Fall Retreat. We're heading to New Hampshire for a weekend of connecting with God and each other. Winter '09

We're headed back to New Hampshire to gather with students from across New England and New York. Dick Foth, a pastor, writer, and spiritual adviser to many political figures in the DC area, will be our speaker. He'll challenge us to see how our faith can shape and influence the marketplace, our culture, and the world.February 13-15 2009

Theology on Tap

We've all got questions. And sometimes we just want to dig a bit deeper.Theology on Tap is our weekly study and discussion group. We'll tackle the tough questions, dig into Scripture, and explore writings of great thinkers and theologians. No question or topic is off limits!When: Day and Time TBA
